Admission requirements for freshmen class of 2021 or later (beginning Summer/Fall 2021)

Freshmen are assured admission into KU’s College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, School of Journalism, or School of Social Welfare if they meet one of these combinations:

  • An ACT score of at least 21 or an SAT score of at least 1060 plus a GPA of at least 3.25
  • An ACT score of at least 24 or an SAT score of at least 1160 plus a GPA of at least 3.0
  • A 3.4 GPA on a 4.0 scale, no test scores required

If you haven’t been able to take the ACT or SAT due to test cancellations, we encourage you to apply to KU now for a holistic review. You can update your KU application after you’ve taken the ACT or SAT. Test scores are required for admission to some majors, the University Honors Program, and scholarship consideration.

Kansas State University

Admission requirements for freshmen class of 2021 or later (beginning Summer/Fall 2021)

Admission to the university is test-optional* and requires achieving EITHER

    • A cumulative high school GPA (weighted or unweighted) of 3.25 or higher OR
    • ACT composite score of 21, OR an SAT ERW+M score of 1060 or higher

AND, if applicable, achieve a 2.0 GPA on all college credit taken in high school.

Students that do not meet these requirements are still encouraged to apply for individual review.

    * While K-State is a test-optional school for admission, most general university scholarships and awards still require test scores for eligibility. We recognized that the current global climate may make it difficult for students to secure ACT/SAT testing opportunities. If a student submits an application for Admission by December 1, they can send updated test scores through April 30 to be considered for scholarship upgrades or first time awards
